Saturday July 8 2017- London
Blaine really wanted to visit Camden Market, so we headed again by Tube to check out this famous, eclectic area. Although we really didn't purchase anything, it was fun to see all the cool, unique artisan products. And then, there is the people-watching, which we all enjoyed. We got a glimpse of the TV the next day and discovered that there was a terrible fire in the same buildings we had just visited in Camden Market yesterday. Very sad to think of those hard-working people losing so much. We were glad to hear there was no loss of life.
We then got back on the Tube and finally made it to Westminster Abbey, a must-see for anyone visiting London. The history and magnificence of the place is awe-inspiring.
Again, being the "ignorant Americans", we had no idea that London's 2017 Pride Parade (celebrating 50 years since London decriminalized homosexuality) was taking place in the same neighborhood were we were planning on having lunch--duh! So, it was quite exciting to be in the crowd of millions! We had all promised ourselves NOT to be in large crowds during our time in Europe, but here we were! Good news is that nothing bad happened, and we had a great time!!
