Tuesday July 11 2017 Heading to Dublin
It was quite a sad day when we had to leave Brian, Sooty, and Wales! After another great breakfast, we were entertained again by Brian's many stories. He was quite the "ladies' man" in his day. He is extremely articulate and well-read and has quite an interesting outlook on life. So, with all of us brushing aside tears, the local taxi driver, Gordon, came to Brian's house and picked us up for our next adventure. The drive to Holyhead, Wales, seemed so quick because Gordon was also quite a talker and another wealth of knowledge!
We boarded the Irish Ferry ship, Ulysses, at Holyhead, Wales, for our trip to Dublin, Ireland. Our wonderful husbands bought Club Class tickets, where we had the very best, comfortable seats and complimentary food and wine. Life really doesn't get any better!!
We arrived in Dublin and took a taxi to our hotel, the Academy Plaza Hotel, which was a great location in Central Dublin. After getting settled in, we went to Murray's Pub (which was just around the corner) for dinner and a wonderful Irish music and dance show. The band was the Celtic Gypsies. They were VERY talented musicians who played interesting, updated versions of many classic Irish songs. We all enjoyed the wonderful Irish Dancers who performed between music sets by the band. Our first day and evening in Ireland was a fantastic one!
