Tuesday July 4 2017 London
We got up early this morning and headed to the tube station in order to be at the Tower of London as soon as they open. First stop inside was the Crown jewels. it's best to get there first thing in the morning before the crowds. We spent about 3 hours learning about the history and exploring the exhibits.
Since we were right next to the Tower bridge we decided to take that tour. You go up an elevator to the top of the bridge where there is a walkway across. It's a beautiful view of the city. One of the more unique features is the glass bottom on part of the walkway, and the mirrors above that glass bottom. Some interesting selfies! If you have ever walked on a glass bottom structure suspended high in the air you know the weird feeling of being safe, yet not really!!
After we stopped for lunch at Butler's Wharf, we jumped on the City Cruise river tour at the Tower Pier and headed down to Westminster Pier. We thought we could see Churchill's War Room today, but the lines were too long, so we headed back to the apartment.
