July 2, 2017 London
July 2nd was a traveling day from Luxembourg to London.. Although the flight is only just over an hour, the customs line was really long. After we claimed our bags, we decided to take the Heathrow Express into town instead of the tube. The Express train is non stop and it only takes about 15 minutes, versus the tube which takes about an hour. (and is usually pretty crowded). The Express train has really nice comfortable seats as well. There is also another train called the Heathrow Connect which is about half the price. It makes 3 or 4 stops along the way and gets you there is about 25 minutes. Might decide to take that one next time.
We got to our apartment around 3:30, where we met a representative from the management company. We were supposed to be in a different apartment, but the day before we left Luxembourg, we got a call telling us the apartment we had rented was without water! Obviously we were quite nervous about where we were going to be staying, but once we got here we were really very impressed with the accommodations. Everything is brand new. I think we are the first guests to stay here after the extensive refurbishing. The only problem now is that we may have to move on Thursday to the original apartment. What a hassle! I have expressed my desire to not have to move, so hopefully they will allow us to stay here the whole week.
Once we got settled in, we decided to walk to an ATM and get some cash. We ended up going back to Paddington Station where we knew there would be ATMs. I opened my wallet to get my credit card and it was not there. PANIC! Where did I use it? I bought tickets for the Heathrow Express, and we figured the guy had not given my card back. Jeri was starving so I got cash through my bank debit card. We hurriedly went to the store and got some food Jeri could eat at the apartment as I rushed to the tube station next to our apartment. As I was sitting on the train waiting for it to leave, I realized I had pulled out my credit card when we first arrived at the apartment. The management company had asked me to pay the balance on the apartment. It must be sitting on the counter! When I got back to the apartment, it was not on the counter!! UGH! I checked my wallet again, and lo and behold, I had put it behind my drivers license! I never do that!
After my blood pressure went back to normal Jeri & I went out to dinner and we lived happily ever after!
