We arrived at Milan airport today. It was quite a different adventure for us. Blaine was in Minnesota for John and Megan Tondryk's wedding, and he flew in from Minneapolis to Newark on Sunday afternoon. Jeri took the redeye from Portland to Newark on Sunday evening and arrived at 5:30 in the morning on Monday. Blaine had gotten a hotel room at the Marriott, so Jeri came to the room and we got to sleep for a few hours before heading to our 6:35 pm flight to Milan. We got the last 2 seats on the plane!! Talk about stress!!

After arriving in Milan, Blaine got on the internet and booked a room at the SHG Grand Hotel. We called the hotel and their shuttle service only comes every hour, so Blaine got a smoothie at the airport while we waited for the shuttle. The hotel was farther away than we thought and there's not much around, but it's nice.

Jeri decided to get some sleep as she didn't sleep at all on the plane. Blaine had slept some, so he decided to check out the neighborhood. He walked down to the Somma Lombardo train station. We thought we could take the train to Bellano from the Somma Lombardo train station, but alas, we have to take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and catch the train from there on Wednesday. Blaine did get to sit at the cafe at the train station and enjoy the nice weather and a couple of beers. Getting into the Italian groove!

We had dinner at the Lindbergh Restaurant in the hotel, played a game of Sequence (Jeri won) and then off to bed.
